In general, I would never really attribute personality traits to babies beyond the usual – Fussy, demanding, ‘good’, calm, etc.
Now that I have my own though? Oh yeah, I can see myself in her.
Stubborness? Check
Independent? Check
Restless? Check
Unwilling to accept any form of help even if it means poking myself in the eye? Check, and check.
At 4 months old, I can already see it in her. Try to give her a pacifier, she takes it out of your hand, whilst giving you a look that says “You have no idea what you’re doing”, and then proceeds to poke herself in the eye with it since she has not yet mastered hand-mouth co-ordination.
And since she’s figured out how to put weight on her feet, she demands to be standing up, despite not having the ability to keep herself up. That does not stop her from babbling in an annoyed manner at you for doing it wrong.
I can see myself in her, and it’s scary as hell. I’m shit out of luck once she can walk and talk, for sure.
Thank god she got her father’s love of sleeping.
